Halloween is one of those times of year when people like to stop and enjoy something playful. Halloween Effect makes that easy. Once you switch it on, ghosts, pumpkins and bats start slowly falling down your visitors' screens. They do not cover content and do not block clicking, so visitors can keep browsing products and shopping in peace.

You need no graphic designer and no programmer. Character images are included in this module. You just switch on this effect and choose how you want it to look.

What you can set up

You choose whether to show only ghosts, only pumpkins, only bats, or all of them together. You set minimum and maximum character size, their opacity and whether they should rotate slightly while falling. With random appearance switched on, each character looks slightly different, so movement feels natural.

Falling speed can be slow, normal or fast. If none suits you, set your own duration in milliseconds. You also decide how many characters can be on screen at once and how often new ones appear.

Where and when this effect appears

You can display it on all pages, on homepage only, or only on pages you pick yourself. Switch display on or off separately for computers, tablets and mobile phones. On checkout, login and customer account pages, it never appears, so nothing distracts customers while they order.

Scheduling is handy too. Enter start and end dates, and this effect shows only during that period. You do not have to remember to return your store to normal when autumn is over. It comes preset from 1 October to 2 November, and you can change these dates whenever you like.

Light and considerate to visitors

This animation is designed to keep your pages light. It uses simple browser animations without extra libraries, characters on screen are always limited in number, and each one disappears once it crosses your visitor's screen. When visitors switch to another browser tab, this animation pauses. Module files load only on pages where this effect is really displayed.

On mobile phones, your chosen percentage automatically lowers how many characters appear. This module also respects reduced motion settings on devices. Anyone who has switched them on will not see any animation. This behavior is switched on by default, and we recommend keeping it that way.
