VAT Checker - EU VIES Validation

Anyone who sells to European Union countries knows this. An order comes in from abroad, the customer claims to be a VAT payer and wants the price without tax. You have to verify this, adjust the order, correct the invoice, and hope you haven't forgotten anything. VAT Checker takes care of this process from the very first second.

As soon as a customer enters their VAT number into the address book, the module connects to the official European VIES database and immediately verifies the number. Not later, not manually, but directly when filling in the address. If the number is valid and the customer is purchasing from an EU country other than your store, the system automatically sets a zero VAT rate. Everything happens quietly in the background, the customer doesn't even notice, they just see the correct price.

What happens if the European VIES servers are down? This does happen, and you can set how the module should behave. It can either temporarily accept or reject the number, or check how it was last verified. You have full control.

The module remembers each verification and stores it in the database. This means that it does not have to contact VIES again each time a customer visits. It is faster and more economical in terms of external services. The results are automatically refreshed after 24 hours, so you always have up-to-date information without unnecessary overhead.

If you want to be thorough, you can also enable company name comparison. The module compares the name entered by the customer with what is recorded in the VIES register. If they do not match, the customer receives a notification. This feature is not mandatory, as some countries do not even provide this data, but where it works, it adds an extra layer of security.

Zero VAT applies not only to products, but also to shipping. If a customer purchases without tax, it is natural that they should not pay it when choosing a carrier. You can easily set this up too.

Do you want to sell certain products with VAT regardless of who is buying them? No problem. You can mark each product as an exception in the administration, and it will be excluded from the zero rate.

For larger stores that work with customer groups, there is another option. You can automatically assign each customer with a verified VAT ID to a selected group and offer them different prices, discounts, or content, for example. This connection works without any external intervention.
